Supporting Medicare-Eligible Employees:  HR’s Guide to Medicare Basics and Part D Compliance

More Americans are turning age 65 than at any other point in American history.  Many are delaying retirement and staying in the workforce longer, increasing the number of employees who can choose between their employer-sponsored coverage and Medicare.  HR professionals are often reluctant to provide Medicare information or education to these employees, although data suggests this group accounts for the most risk and cost when compared to other age groups.

This session will provide an overview of the Medicare system, with a focus on what HR professionals need to know about Medicare, the interaction between Medicare and Employer-sponsored health plans and COBRA, and the changes to Medicare that are impacting Medicare Part D Creditable Coverage notices.

You will learn:
  • The Basics of Medicare and how it interacts with employer-sponsored health plans.
  • The legal obligation for employers to notify Medicare-eligible employees about prescription drug coverage status.
  • Key deadlines, distribution methods and best practices for these notifications
  • How to minimize risk and avoid penalties through proactive communication and record-keeping.

Whether you are managing benefits for a small business or a large corporation, this presentation will arm you with the knowledge and tools to ensure your organization remains compliant and your employees are well-informed.
